Located just 25 miles west of the Twin Cities, Mudd Lake Furniture is a unique home décor destination with an assortment of eclectic imports and eccentric finds.

Set on a picturesque lake farm, Mudd Lake Furniture is owned by a former NFL football player. How did a professional athlete end up in Watertown, Minnesota running a furniture business? Well, it certainly has not been a traditional career transformation, but then again, I’m not a conventional sort of guy.

My decorating inspiration is my mother, Roberta Kratch. My story began with my birth in Brooklyn, New York during the 1966 New York transit strike. In labor with a 13 pounder, my ever resourceful mother enlisted a ride to the hospital in a local funeral director’s hearse. Her creativity has been a continual source of inspiration to me.

Raising us in her humble, yet comfortable, home in Mahwah, New Jersey, my mother created a wonderful life for me and my two siblings. My mother crafted a warm home through creative, memorable Christmas decorations, beautifully painted furniture and her unabashed willingness to scour flea markets and curbside junk piles for treasures. Yes, Roberta Kratch inspired my passion for decorating.
